You Said You Had Deep State, What Changed? Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Asks Azimio

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has hit out at political leaders in the Azimio coalition following their latest demands issued to the IEBC.

Sudi in a media briefing at his Kapseret home accused Azimio of changing goal posts in relation to the upcoming general election.

This follows a recent claim that one of the Kenya Kwanza principles, Moses Wetangula, influenced awarding of the tender to a company that is printing the ballot papers.

Wetangula has since dismissed the claims as a smear campaign being peddled by the deep state.

The Azimio team is also demanding that IEBC must use both manual and electronic voters’ register.

But according to Sudi, the latest demands are out of the Raila Odinga-led coalition’s realization that they were headed for a loss.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi addressing members of the Luhya Community on July 2, 2022.

You claim that Wetangula influenced awarding of tender for IEBC, how can that be even possible? Last time you said you have system, what happened? Has it failed or it was just a term you were using to trick Raila?” Sudi asked.

He also accused Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed of misleading the former Prime Minister into issuing a manual register demand.

Baba (Raila) said he wanted an electronic register, but now you have misled him, he is saying he wants a manual. It looks like you have realized that you have no chance,” added the Kapseret MP.

After IEBC said it would only avail electronic voters’ register at polling stations, Azimio protested against the move, insisting that both versions of the register must be available for use.

Kenya Kwanza ahead of Azimio

The vocal legislator further notes that individuals close to the ODM leader have been misleading him over his popularity, using what he claims are fabricated opinion polls.

According to the legislator, the actual opinion poll shows Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate who is also Deputy President William Ruto has a clear lead over Raila.

The actual things on the ground are that Kenya Kwanza has 54 per cent popularity in the presidential race. Raila has not even reached 42 per cent,” Sudi said.

He is now challenging the Azimio team to do campaigns and stop whining and making demands to the electoral body.
